WebDesignColumn is an independent publication about building websites, and about the decisions that come before and after the build.
We started in 2017 as a small design blog. In 2026 we rebuilt the site from scratch with a clearer job: practical, tested guides for the people who make websites and for the people who pay for them.
What we cover
- WordPress: block themes, speed, security and maintenance.
- Web design: layout, typography, colour, UX and accessibility.
- Front-end: HTML, CSS, JavaScript and modern frameworks.
- AI news and insights: new AI tools and models, where AI is genuinely useful, and how it is changing work and everyday life.
- Website business: costs, redesigns, launches and hiring.
- Industry websites: what works for restaurants, clinics, law firms, shops and more.
- Templates and tools: resources we have actually used.
How we work
Every article is written or reviewed by someone who builds websites for a living. We test the code we publish, take our own screenshots, date our prices, and update posts when things change. Read the full editorial policy.
Who is behind it
Maulik Umrania, editor
Partner at the web agency Plugig Solutions and runs the template library ThemeVault. Maulik writes and edits WebDesignColumn and reviews every article before it is published.
News roundups and team articles are published as the WebDesignColumn Editorial Team, a small group of designers and developers. Every article follows our editorial policy. Where we mention Plugig Solutions or ThemeVault we say so, and our partners never change what we recommend.
